Rosie

the American Crow

Rosie is an American Crow who joined our education team in 2024, and one look at her will give you a hint as to why - she is fully albino, and lacks any sort of pigmentation! Her family rejected her after she fledged and got her flight feathers, as they realized she would not live very long on her own and would likely draw unwanted attention to their social group with her bright white feathers. Albino animals tend to have issues with their vision and hearing, and have difficulty surviving long in the wild as a result. Due to being very young when she arrived at REGI, she is very comfortable around humans and loves coming out on programs.

Did you know?

American crows are incredibly intelligent - they have 15 billion neurons, which is as many as some primates! They are known to use tools, cooperate to achieve tasks, and recognize individual human faces. Their intelligence allows them to adapt to and thrive in a wide range of habitats!

You can support Rosie by symbolically adopting her!
